i still want the bananas I had in southern India, and the other ubiquitous banana disappoints me. tomatoes are finally getting better in the us. but tomatoes, cucumbers (also better with the introduction of persian cucumbers of late), green peppers, cabbage, grapes to name a few disappoint me every time i eat it, though it's not like i've lived in Japan for an extended period of time. My grandfather being a doctor didn't help the fact that we had expensive 'gift' food around the house at all times.
